Our Color Code
German wine law classifies a Riesling into the "dry" taste category solely on the basis of analytical data on residual sugar content and total acidity.
For us, however, the harmonious taste and balance of the wine are in the foreground - a claim that cannot be fixed on dates and figures. Because each vintage has its own individual character, for example, a slightly higher residual sugar content may be good for a vintage with a high acidity, without it being perceived as a dry wine in terms of taste.
You will therefore look in vain for the indication "dry" on our labels. The color of the capsule with which the Riesling is topped provides information about the respective flavor.
White Capsule
The White Capsule stand for our dry fermented wines.
To illustrate this, the Rieslings are marked with a scale ranging from left to right from dry to sweet on the back label, with MM indicating where we classify the wine according to its taste.
Green Capsule
The off-dry Rieslings carry a green capsule. These are the wines that the Mosel ist famous for – they are gorgeously well balanced in fruit, mineral, acidity and residual sugar content.
Golden Capsule
Our sweet Rieslings are marked by a golden capsule. The complex fruit aroma of these wines is solely from the natural sugar of the grapes.
